Protecting the Environment – “AudioCodes Going Green” Initiative

AudioCodes has been investing a lot of effort to address the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle, from product development, manufacturing, and use-to-service and end-of-life. Integrating environmental policies into AudioCodes design and manufacturing processes results in socially accountable business practices that help reduce the environmental impact associated with our products. AudioCodes is committed to the ”AudioCodes Going Green” initiative and actively implements it throughout its supply chain.

European Union Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS)

AudioCodes recognizes the importance of various international legislations restricting content of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and the tremendous impact they may have on our environment. AudioCodes is committed to continuously review and implement procedures in order to meet its obligations under these directives. Since July 1st, 2006, in accordance with the EU RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, we have converted selected products to become RoHS compliant. As of March 1st, 2007 AudioCodes’ products also comply with the obligatory marking requirements of the Measures for the Administration of the Control of Pollution by Electronic Information Products regulations (“China RoHS”).

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

AudioCodes is committed to meeting the requirements of the European Union (EU) Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2002/96/EC. This Directive requires producers of electrical and electronic equipment to finance the Take Back, for reuse or recycling, of their products placed on the EU market after August 13th, 2005. AudioCodes added the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol to the relevant product labels in accordance with the WEEE Directive requirement on products put on the market on or after August 13th, 2005.

Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation (REACH) - Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs)

The Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, commonly referred to as "REACH", is Europe's new chemicals legislation. REACH creates a new system for gathering information, assessing risks to human health and the environment, and authorizing or restricting the marketing and use of chemicals. To the best of our knowledge, AudioCodes’ products do not contain any of the current candidate “Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)” substances in amounts exceeding 0.1% weight by weight (w/w).  AudioCodes is working with its supply chain to verify the accuracy of this statement. This declaration will be updated as soon as any changes occur or new relevant substances are added to the candidate list. Information will also be provided to consumers upon request. Batteries

Batteries in use in AudioCodes’ products are Lithium, button cell portable batteries, which comply with Directive 2006/66/EC, avoiding the use of hazardous content such as cadmium and mercury.

Energy Efficiency & Carbon Print

Climate-change concerns, the cost of energy, and new regulations continue to drive energy-efficiency initiatives across the industry and in AudioCodes. In addition, regulators globally are increasingly addressing energy efficiency in consumer electronics equipment. As a supplier of networking equipment, AudioCodes has established a comprehensive program to assess energy efficiency and reduce the carbon print across our entire product range and operation. AudioCodes is well aware of energy efficiency market standards, such as EuP,  and is continuously working to ensure that the relevant products are compliant. AudioCodes is consistently working on decreasing the energy consumption in new product designs.

Corporate Social Responsibility

AudioCodes voluntarily joined the Israeli MA’ALA ranking organization in 2007, and was rated in 2009 between the 26 best organizations in Israel (gold group). This initiative was a natural outcome of AudioCodes CODE OF ETHICS AND BUSINESS CONDUCT policy.  The “MA’ALA” ranking also includes the analysis of environment protection initiatives, in addition to other parameters such as Business Ethics, Community Activities, Work Environment and Human rights and Corporate Governance.
