While the global economy crisis affects most markets and industries, some markets are less vulnerable than others. Organizations worldwide are striving to reduce capital and operational expenses, and are putting business decisions on hold; however they continue communicating internally and externally, while on the move.
Mobile Communications is becoming ubiquitous. Children start using their first mobile phones in elementary school. Mobile devices are becoming increasingly intelligent, integrating a significant amount of storage and CPU power, along with allowing business people to have access to their office applications at all times.
Business people travelling frequently are using their mobile phones while roaming between network operators. Saving costs while roaming between various Mobile Service Providers, is an additional concern for the distributed Enterprise and the mobile business person.  MailVision’s Pico is a SIP client for the mobile phone allowing Service Providers to offer reduced-cost SIP services to mobile users, using the integrated WiFi support of modern smart-phones.
Mobile Voice & Data communications require the network to provide enhanced services, allowing users from different locations to transparently communicate. This Newsletter will cover the different technologies offered by AudioCodes allowing network mobility and inter-network communications, while saving on capital and operational costs. Transcoding, Security, and Ease of Use are only some of the attributes of the Next Generation Network that will be discussed, outlining the advantages of implementing the AudioCodes technology and products in these networks.
Recent market announcements have positioned AudioCodes gateways as the selected SIP Gateways supporting survivability in IP Telephony networks by Alcatel-Lucent, as well as Avaya, two out of the three world leading Enterprise telephony vendors. The AudioCodes SAS (Stand Alone Survivability) feature supported by the MediaPack and Mediant Media Gateway families is a unique feature, allowing survivability of Enterprise Remote Branch SIP telephony services in the case of the loss of the branch office connectivity to the centralized SIP IP-PBX.
