The Mediant 5000 and Mediant 8000 are the high end platforms of AudioCodes product lines. Targeted at OEMs, large SIs that cater to carriers, and to carriers themselves, these platforms provide a solution on two levels: Capacity and High Availability. Today the Mediant 8000 can scale up to 7200 ports, and in the near future the capacity will grow to over 16000 ports using the new TP-6310 board with STM1 interfaces. All components of the Mediant 5000/8000 are fully redundant, providing a robust system that meets the requirements of tier one carriers.

In today's competitive market, where operators are continuously trying to cut down costs and delay decisions on expenses, while at the same time increase revenues by offering new services, it is important for equipment vendors to act fast in order to be first to market. An approach that is more and more being adopted by OEMs is outsourcing: Developing a MGW starting at the drawing board level can take between 18-24 months. Three Scalable Platforms
AudioCodes provides three gateway platforms that can scale from a 30 ports to over 16000 (future release) ports in a single frame. The Mediant family of gateways supports a variety of PSTN signaling such as SS7, V5.2, CAS, PRI and R2, and offers integrated SS7 interworking and SIGTRAN support. Call control options include support for protocols such as MGCP, MEGACO and TGCP, as well as H.323 and SIP on the low-density gateway (Mediant 2000). In addition, the Mediant supplies a full compliment of popular vocoder options such as G.711, G.723 and G.729. The Mediant gateways build on AudioCodes field proven voice capabilities and expertise in deploying VoP all around the globe.

Transparent TDM over packet networks in 2G-2.5G cellular environments
AudioCodes aims to provide solutions to its OEM, SI and carrier customers. One such solution that is aimed at cellular operators without their own transmission infrastructure is the transparent TDM application combined with SS7 backhauling. Such cellular operators can realize OPEX savings by replacing TDM links with IP links between BTS – BSC, BSC – MSC, MSC – MSC.

Manufacturers of GSM infrastructure equipment can offer this application to their existing customer base through an OEM agreement and gain additional revenues from 2G networks without any investment in R&D.
