Messages from the Management
Yehuda Herskovits
Vice President, Systems

It is my pleasure to submit this contribution to the NextGen Voice News. Over the recent quarters we have seen increased activity in our systems business. As we envisioned, we have succeeded in designing and developing media gateway and media server products that enable our OEM customers and System Integrators to build state-of-the-art VoP network solutions. An example of such a successful collaboration is our recent project with HOT Telecom in Israel. Our core trunking and CPE media gateways are being integrated by Lucent for the implementation of VoIP in HOT’s cable networks. Lucent Worldwide Services is the prime system integrator, providing network and security integration services for HOT Telecom.

Moving forward, we are continue targeting new design wins with leading OEMs and partners. From the perspective of products, we are putting specific focus on the 3GPP IMS architecture and on Fixed-Mobile-Convergence (FMC). Our systems and subsystems provide unique capabilities for supporting both wireless and wireline networks on the same platforms, therefore enabling delivery of converged services while maintaining harmonized network architecture.

Other areas in which we are concentrating include cellular (GSM and CDMA), wireless-based rural telephony (using softswitch or V5.2 interfaces) and enhanced voice services (i.e., prepaid and postpaid calling cards, announcement servers, conferencing servers, etc.). For the latter market segment, we recently announced two new members of our IPmedia™ family of media servers – the IPmedia™ 5000 and IPmedia™ 8000. These platforms target mid- and high-density, carrier-grade deployments. We are looking forward to another fruitful quarter.

Sincerely,

Yehuda Hershkovits,
Vice President, Systems
