AudioCodes Announces Software SBC Strategy for Cloud and Data Centers
Mediant Software SBC delivers increased capacity, scalability, security and interoperability for hosted services
Lod, Israel - May 29, 2013 - AudioCodes (NasdaqGS: AUDC), a leading provider of VoIP technologies, products and services, today announced its Software Session Border Controller (SBC) solutions strategy for use in the cloud, data centers and hosted environments. Capitalizing on the growing success of its SBC technology and product portfolio for mid-market unified communications, SIP trunking and contact center applications, AudioCodes is now expanding its target use to support access and peering for hosted communications services. Aligning with software-only architectures, the Mediant Software SBC integrates smoothly into both virtualized and non-virtualized environments, providing essential session border control functions such as SIP and Media normalization, NAT traversal, authentication, encryption, denial of service protection, SLA enforcement and routing.
AudioCodes’ Mediant Software SBC serves to centralize SIP Trunking connectivity for large enterprises, as well as cloud-based communications service providers, on industry standard servers. By leveraging advanced multi-core architecture, the Mediant Software SBC scales with the servers’ strength and number of cores, in line with the technology evolution of the server industry. Enterprises and service providers can now quickly deploy AudioCodes’ Software SBC on their own infrastructure or in third party Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environments and benefit from flexible Pay-as-you-Grow pricing.
AudioCodes Software SBC was first released to market at the end of 2011, and has been adopted by leading UC and Contact Center solution vendors. The second phase release of the Mediant Software SBC is now planned to reach 4,000 concurrent sessions in Q3 of 2013 and 10,000 concurrent sessions by the end of 2013. Further capacity increase is planned for 2014. In addition, the Mediant Software SBC will include software based media processing and transcoding for supporting wideband codecs and advanced voice quality enhancement techniques. Advanced transcoding capabilities are a key for the evolution of voice applications to support mobility and WebRTC, facilitating productivity, accessibility and superior user experience.
