AudioCodes Demonstrates First WebRTC HD Call Between Browser and IP Phone
High-definition, error resilient, browser to enterprise communication through native support for the Opus voice codec in AudioCodes enterprise 400HD series IP Phones
Lod, Israel - October 16 2013 - AudioCodes (NasdaqGS: AUDC), a leading provider of solutions that enable enterprises and service providers to transition to all-IP voice networks, today announced that it will be demonstrating the 400HD series of IP phones with Opus voice codec capabilities at upcoming market events. As WebRTC is positioned to accelerate adoption of browser-based real-time voice and video communications, AudioCodes is adding Opus support to its IP phones line as part of the One Voice for Hosted Services program and AudioCodes offerings to enterprise UC and contact centers.

The addition of Opus to the AudioCodes IP phones line of products allows service providers and enterprises to extend the reach of the communication services to the web, while providing end-to-end high quality calls. Native OPUS-based communications leverage on the error resiliency inherent to the Opus codec. It also serves to remove computing intensive tasks such as transcoding from the service providers’ cloud, thus increasing scale and reducing costs.
By adding native WebRTC support to its IP Phones, AudioCodes enables contact center solution partners to effortlessly integrate remote, home and mobile contact center agents, facilitating high definition voice quality calls with consumers and customers calling via their browsers.
