MediaPack 40x
MediaPack BRI VoIP Gateways offer SMBs and SOHOs a simple, cost effective method to migrate to Voice over IP, by connecting legacy PBX systems with BRI lines to IP networks. Incorporating AudioCodes’ innovative Voice over Packet technology, the MediaPack 40x enables rapid time-to- market and reliable cost-effective deployment for next-generation networks.
The MediaPack BRI VoIP Gateway is based on AudioCodes VoIPerfect, underlying, best-of-breed, media gateway core technology. The MediaPack 40x is fully interoperable with multiple vendor PBXs, Softswitches, gatekeepers, proxy servers, gateways, IP phones, session border controllers and firewalls.
Survivability mechanisms
The MediaPack 40x can be deployed in diverse network topologies, with flexible NT/TE configuration, port granularity that spans up to 8 voice channels and a combination of survivability mechanisms:
- Scale up to 4 BRI lines (up to 8 voice channels)
- Scale up to 4 BRI lines plus a fifth BRI interface for lifeline
- Scale up to 2 pairs of BRI lines supporting PSTN fallback in case of power failure
Interoperability
MediaPack is a member of AudioCodes’ complete family of stand-alone VoIP Gateways. AudioCodes has invested significant effort in complying with the leading and evolving VoIP standards. The support of multiple VoIP control protocols has been tested with leading Softswitch vendors. As a provider for OEMs, System Integrators and Network Equipment Providers, AudioCodes offers interoperability-rich products.

Utilizing AudioCodes VoIPerfect core architecture, and gaining from its accumulated experience in providing IP telephony solutions, the MP-40x series combines superior voice quality and “state of the art” features for end users, such as T.38 Fax Relay and G.168-2002 compliant Echo Cancellation. Low bit-rate vocoders (voice coders) can be used simultaneously on both telephony ports to save valuable bandwidth. The “Voice over Data” prioritization algorithm prevents degradation in voice quality even during large data transfers.
Integrated Router capabilities
The MediaPack 40x series serves as a data router, for connecting a PC or LAN hub/switch, including NAT, DHCP, PPPoE and additional data functions required for simultaneous telephony & internet usage.
