Media Gateways support analog and digital interfaces and connect over an IP link to the core of the Service Provider's network. They can be used to connect PBXs, telephones or fax machines for sending and receiving VoIP traffic up until the edge of the network. Media Servers provide media services for value added VoIP applications over the VoIP network, and Session Border Controllers provide secure connectivity between separate VoIP networks.
