Avaya Communication Manager with Survivable SIP Gateways - AudioCodes Solution

Communication Manager with Survivable SIP Gateways is the Avaya Aura™ solution for small locations with two to 10 users. These gateways provide basic survivability in a low-cost option, delivering UC applications to thin small offices connected to the core through Communication Manager 5.0+, and SIP Enablement Services (SES). The solution consists of Avaya 9600-series SIP phones and SIP gateways from AudioCodes. Available with Avaya Aura Standard Edition and Avaya Aura Enterprise Edition.

By utilizing AudioCodes gateways, the “Communication Manager with Survivable SIP Gateways Solution” enables Avaya 96xx SIP phone users at remote branch offices to have maximum reliability in case of WAN failures. The Avaya 96xx SIP phones register with the AudioCodes gateway SAS (Stand Alone Survivability) user agent. During a WAN failover, the AudioCodes gateway with SAS will provide the following basic telephony services to the Avaya 96xx SIP phone users:

• Make and receive calls
• Intra-branch calls
• Features: Hold, Transfer and Conference

During failover periods, the AudioCodes gateway will continue to ping the Avaya Communications Manager (CM) with a keep-alive link. Once the WAN is restored and the Avaya CM responds and re-establishes communications with SIP phones, the AudioCodes gateway returns to normal functionality. The AudioCodes gateway will continue to monitor the WAN for disruption of service to its Avaya 96xx SIP phone users. AudioCodes MediaPack 11x supports up to 10 SIP phone users and up to 100 SIP phone users are supported by AudioCodes Mediant 1000 and Mediant 600.
