SIP Phone Support for Microsoft Unified Communications

SPS enables the connection of the 300HD Series with Microsoft Lync Server, while providing features, such as enhanced presence, active directory, and support for Real Time Audio (RTA) - Microsoft’s highdefinition, wideband coder.
SPS can also be used to enable connectivity and provisioning of AudioCodes certified third-party SIP IP Phones from leading vendors, such as Cisco and Avaya, providing IT managers with full investment protection for their IP Phones.
SPS can be offered as an appliance, running on the Open Solutions Network (OSN) Server within AudioCodes’ Mediant 800 or Mediant 1000, or alternatively, as a standalone server that uses external DSP resources on the AudioCodes gateways, in case they are required. The AudioCodes gateways hosting the SPS service can simultaneously function as an "Enhanced" Media Gateway or Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) for the Microsoft Unified Communications system.

IP-Phones for Office Communications
Server / Lync Server
AudioCodes’ 300HD Series of High Definition IP Phones offers a new dimension of voice call quality and clarity for the IP Telephony market.
In addition to the set of standard features in the 300HD Series IP Phone, specialized features for Microsoft Unified Communications environment are available:
Unified Communication Features
- Speed Dialing with Busy Lamp Field that provides Lync Server Presence
- Changing Presence from Phone
- RTA Vocoder (wideband and narrowband)
- Directory lookup
- User Contact List with presence indication
Security & Provisioning Enhancements
- Auto-provisioning of the firmware and configuration file
- SIP over TLS
- Secure RTP
- User Login with PIN (user password not stored in the phone)
SIP Phone Support for Microsoft Unified Communications - Applications
IP phones connected to Lync Server through SPS can be used as desktop phones for locations without PC workstations or for users that prefer the convenience of using a phone handset.
Making and receiving calls using the IP Phone updates user presence just like using Microsoft® Lync™ 2010.
The user can change presence status and search for contacts from the phone directly. The user’s contacts presence can be displayed on the phone (requires BLF support from the SIP phone).

Alternatively, an IP Phone connected to Lync Server through SPS can work in conjunction with Lync 2010. This mode combines the best of both worlds: the ability to make convenient voice calls from the desk phone, together with Lync’s advanced features such as Instant
Messaging.
In this case, incoming calls will simultaneously be received at both the IP Phone and Office Communicator / Lync, giving the user the ability to pick the call wherever it is more convenient. Presence is updated in all of the user’s devices.
