Background

As an organization working in media and broadcasting, Kan, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, understands the importance of delivering excellent picture and sound quality. Its existing hybrid meeting solution, however, was not meeting the standards it expected.

Already using Microsoft Teams, Kan wanted its meeting rooms to become a natural extension of its existing working environment, with simpler operation and a better experience for all participants, especially those joining remotely.

Challenges and Objectives

Before the deployment of AudioCodes’ solutions, remote participants struggled to hear people seated far from the microphone and could only clearly see those sitting directly in front of the camera. Connecting a laptop to the room for content sharing was not a smooth operation and participants often had to resort to seeking IT assistance which often delayed the start of meetings.

Kan wanted to improve audio and video coverage, simplify meeting setup and match the equipment to the layout and use of each room. In the large rooms, audio quality was a hard requirement: as a broadcaster, Kan's teams regularly review video and audio material during meetings, so the room had to reproduce that content as clearly as the actual meeting discussions. Integration with Teams and access to an Israeli partner providing local support were also priorities.

Delivering Meeting Equity Across Every Room with AudioCodes Intelligent Meeting Room Solutions

AudioCodes delivered a Microsoft-certified Teams Rooms (MTR) solution tailored to the layout and use of each room type. The solution was based on AudioCodes Intelligent Meeting Room offering, designed to leverage superior audio and video quality enhanced by AI-powered video coverage. The result is meeting equity for on-site and remote participants across all room types.

Central to the AudioCodes solution is the RXV200 intelligent AV hub. The modular, Android-based RXV200 uses AI technology to connect and orchestrate between multiple audio and video peripherals, including support for dual screens when required.

Another element common to both room setups is the RX-PAD meeting room controller, a Teams-certified, 8-inch touchscreen device with an integrated calendar and one-touch meeting join. It also supports simple content sharing via an HDMI cable and on-screen camera adjustments, keeping meeting controls within easy reach.

Kan also benefitted from AudioCodes AI Summary, an AI powered solution that generates automatic meeting summaries and distributes them to all participants. AI Summary is fully integrated with the AudioCodes meeting room solutions and requires no separate software installation.

Small-Medium Room

In the small-medium room setup, AudioCodes proposed the RXVCam360, a center-of-table integrated AV device that provides a panoramic view of everyone around the table. Its four 5MP lenses support 4K video at 30 frames per second, while four built-in microphones and an 8W speaker combine audio and video in one compact unit.

In conjunction with the RXV200, the RXVCam360 also supports video AI features such as Speaker Tracking, Smart Gallery, Discussion Mode and Panoramic Mode which provides a complete 360° view of proceedings in one frame. These capabilities offer different views of the room and the conversation. Users can easily switch between modes using the intuitive controls on the RX-PAD.

Large Room

The large room setup includes the RXVCam70 PTZ dual-lens camera with 12x optical zoom and the Nureva HDL310 front-of-room audio bar, which together ensure that even participants at the far end of the room can be seen and heard clearly. The HDL310 also provides clear, room-filling sound for playing back the video and audio content Kan's teams review as part of their broadcast work. Here also, the RXV200 and RX-PAD provide powerful orchestration and control capabilities to the room, including integrated control of the Nureva audio bar via the RX-PAD.

AudioCodes’ large-room solutions also support dual screens and optional content cameras for whiteboard sharing. AI-powered dual-camera support can provide views from different angles as room requirements evolve.

AudioCodes Israel assessed each room’s size and use, installed and integrated the equipment with Kan’s Teams environment and trained Kan’s staff. The rooms went live without any disruption to day-to-day operations.

Results

Improvements in audio and video quality were noticeable from the very first meetings. Among the key benefits are:

In the small-medium room, the panoramic RXVCam360 camera captures everyone seated around the table. In the large room, the RXVCam70 camera follows the speaker while the Nureva audio bar picks up participants throughout the space. Video and audio clips play back with the sound quality Kan's production teams expect. As a result, remote participants can see and hear the people in the room with exceptional clarity.

Following the successful initial deployments based on AudioCodes Intelligent Meeting Rooms, Kan is expanding the solution with the addition of AudioCodes RX-PANEL room schedulers and plans to continue deploying the entire solution in meeting rooms at its other sites across Israel.
